Alain Passard, born August 4, 1956, in La Guerche-de-Bretagne, Ille-et-Vilaine, France, is a French chef and proprietor of the three-Michelin-starred restaurant L'Arpège in Paris's 7th arrondissement. He became the youngest chef to receive two Michelin stars at age 26 while leading Le Duc d'Enghien at Casino d'Enghien (1980–1984), and later acquired L'Arpège in 1986, earning its third Michelin star in 1996. Since 2001, Passard has pioneered a revolutionary vegetable-focused cuisine, retiring red meat from his menus and developing organic potagers across France to supply his restaurant with seasonal produce.
