Alexandre Mazzia is the chef and owner of the three Michelin-starred AM par Alexandre Mazzia in Marseille, France, which he opened in June 2014 and which earned its first Michelin star six months later, the second in 2019, and the third in 2021. Born in 1976 in Pointe-Noire, Republic of the Congo, to French parents, he was a former professional basketball player who returned to France at age 16 and trained at École Hôtelière Santos Dumont in Saint-Cloud. His cuisine draws from his African childhood, incorporating spices, smoke, and chili, influenced by apprenticeships with chefs like Santi Santamaria and Martín Berasategui.
