Alfonso Iaccarino, born in Sant'Agata sui Due Golfi, Italy, to a family of hoteliers, co-founded Don Alfonso 1890 restaurant with his wife Livia in 1973 after training at the hotel school in Stresa, initially managing it alongside the family hotel until dedicating exclusively in 1983. He served as head chef of the two Michelin-starred Don Alfonso 1890 on the Sorrento Peninsula, pioneering Italy's farm-to-table organic movement in the 1980s by establishing the family farm Le Peracciole for herbs, fruits, vegetables, and olive oil. The Iaccarino family expanded the brand to outposts including Toronto, Macau at Grand Lisboa Palace, and others, with Alfonso later transitioning leadership to sons Ernesto and Mario.
