Andoni Luis Aduriz, born in 1971 in San Sebastián, Spain, trained at the Catering School in Gipuzkoa and worked under chefs including Juan Mari Arzak, Pedro Subijana, Ferran Adrià at elBulli as sous-chef, and as head chef for Martín Berasategui at Lasarte before founding Mugaritz in Errenteria in 1998. Mugaritz has held two Michelin stars since 2006 and was ranked third best restaurant in the world by World's 50 Best in 2011 and 2012. He is a founding patron of the Basque Culinary Center and collaborates with institutions like Harvard and MIT on gastronomic innovation.
