Anne Vatan

Anne Vatan is the winemaker at Domaine Edmond Vatan in Chavignol, Sancerre, where she took over vinification from her father Edmond in 2007 after his illness, producing the highly coveted Sancerre Clos la Néore from 40-year-old Sauvignon Blanc vines in the Clos la Néore monopole within Les Monts Damnés. She employs traditional methods including late harvesting, organic viticulture, native-yeast fermentation in century-old neutral 600-liter foudres, and aging in the same barrels without fining or filtration. Married to Nady Foucault of Clos Rougeard, Anne continues the 13-generation family legacy dating to 1789, with the domaine focusing solely on this single-vineyard cuvée yielding about 4,000 bottles annually.
