i. Biography
Caroline Frey is a French winemaker who graduated top of her class from the University of Oenology in Bordeaux, where she studied under Denis Dubourdieu, and began her career with her first vintage at Château La Lagune in 2004. In 2006, following her family's acquisition of Paul Jaboulet Aîné in the Rhône Valley, she became winemaker and viticulturist there, leading the transition to organic and biodynamic farming, with certification achieved in 2016. She oversaw upgrades including a gravity flow system in 2010 and created Domaine de La Chapelle in 2023, but stepped down from Paul Jaboulet Aîné, Château La Lagune, and related estates in July 2025 due to health reasons to focus on her Swiss winery in Fully.
