i. Biography
Charles Lachaux is the sixth-generation winemaker leading Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux, a family estate in Vosne-Romanée, Burgundy, founded in 1858 and renamed in 2007.[1][5] Eldest son of Pascal Lachaux and Florence Arnoux, he studied oenology in Beaune and gained international experience in the US, New Zealand, South Africa, Bordeaux, and at Domaine Armand Rousseau before joining the domaine in 2011 and implementing radical changes from 2012, including whole-cluster fermentation and ceramic vats.[2][4][6] Influenced by mentor Lalou Bize-Leroy, he emphasizes empirical viticulture, organic and biodynamic practices, and minimal intervention to express terroir in Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Aligoté wines across premier and grand cru sites.[1][3][7]
