Danny Yip is the chef-owner of The Chairman, a Hong Kong Cantonese restaurant opened in 2009 that has risen to global acclaim, including a top 10 ranking in The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2021 and the Icon Award 2024 from Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants. Previously a restaurateur in Australia, he launched establishments like Window on the Orient, Madam Yip, and Chairman & Yip before returning to Hong Kong in 1997, semi-retiring, and rediscovering his passion through wet markets, leading to The Chairman's innovative take on traditional Cantonese cuisine using local ingredients and original recipes. He collaborates closely with head chef Kwok Keung Tung to emphasize creativity, sustainability, and emotional connection in dishes like fragrant crab with Shaoxing wine.
