Pioneering wood-fire cooking in Asian fine dining
i. Biography
Dave Pynt is an Australian chef and owner of Burnt Ends Hospitality Group, a one-Michelin-starred modern barbecue restaurant in Singapore's Chinatown that he opened in 2013. Born in Perth, Western Australia, Pynt studied commercial cooking at TAFE West Coast Institute of Training before training under world-renowned chefs including René Redzepi at Noma (Denmark), Tetsuya Wakuda in Sydney, Victor Arguinzoniz at Asador Etxebarri (Spain), and Fergus Henderson at St John (London). His philosophy centers on wood-fire cooking as both a technique and way of thinking, which he has applied to establish Burnt Ends as a globally recognized dining destination and expand his hospitality group to include Meatsmith locations, a cocktail bar, bakery, wine cellar, and international restaurants in Jakarta and the Maldives.
