i. Biography
Guy Savoy, born July 24, 1953 in Nevers, Burgundy, France, apprenticed at age 15 with chocolate maker Louis Marchand and later spent three years with the Troisgros brothers in Roanne before opening his eponymous restaurant in Paris's 16th arrondissement in 1980, earning its first Michelin star in 1981 and second in 1985. The restaurant moved to rue Troyon near Place de l'Étoile in 1987, gained a third Michelin star in 2002, relocated to the Monnaie de Paris in 2015, and lost the third star in 2023, now holding two stars while being named the World's Best Restaurant in 2024. He owns additional Paris establishments like Chiberta, L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon (formerly L'Atelier de Maître Albert), and Les Bouquinistes, plus international outposts including Restaurant Guy Savoy at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas (opened 2006).
