James Gaag is the Executive Chef of La Colombe, one of South Africa's top restaurants, located at Silvermist Wine Estate in Constantia. Born December 11, 1988, in Mainburg, Germany, he trained at Silwood School of Cookery and rose through the ranks at La Colombe starting as a third-year student in 2010, becoming sous chef before his appointment as head chef in 2014. Under his leadership, La Colombe achieved runner-up status in South Africa's Eat Out Awards for two consecutive years (2015-2016) and ranked 76th in the World's 50 Best Restaurants Awards.
