i. Biography
Jean-Marie Fourrier is a fifth-generation winemaker at Domaine Fourrier in Gevrey-Chambertin, Burgundy, France, taking over the family estate in 1994 at age 23 after training with legendary winemaker Henri Jayer and stints at Domaine Drouhin in Oregon. He revitalized the domaine through minimal intervention techniques, reducing oak use, avoiding filtration and herbicides, and focusing on vineyard health with old vines in premier and grand cru sites like Griotte-Chambertin and Clos St. Jacques. Known for elegant, pure Pinot Noirs, he also produces négociant wines under his name and emphasizes sustainable, increasingly biodynamic practices.
