Joan Roca i Fontané (born 11 February 1964) is a Spanish chef and co-founder of El Celler de Can Roca in Girona, which received three Michelin stars in 2009 and was named the world's best restaurant by Restaurant Magazine in 2013 and 2015. He studied at Escola d'Hosteleria de Girona and later became a professor there, while developing innovative cooking techniques including sous-vide and low-temperature cooking that have influenced 21st-century gastronomy. He leads La Masia, the restaurant's research and development center, and has been recognized as the world's best chef in 2018, with numerous publications and international collaborations including Harvard's Science & Cooking program.
