John Williams is an American winemaker and owner of Frog's Leap Winery in Rutherford, California, founded in 1981 with Larry Turley. Born circa 1952 and raised on a dairy farm in Clymer, New York, Williams graduated from Cornell University and studied winemaking at UC Davis before becoming a pioneering advocate for organic grape growing and dry farming in Napa Valley. He has been certified organically grown since 1988 and is recognized for his philosophy of 'balance, restraint, and respect for terroir.'
